Dance Leelanau Teachers

  • Hillary Voight

    Hillary Voight began dancing at age 11 in Leland with Dance Leelanau. She is grateful for the training she had with Elisa Brabenec (Dance Leelanau Founder) and Suzy Laskey (Previous Dance Leelanau Owner.) She is overjoyed to have revitalized Dance Leelanau in 2015 by leading the ballet program in Leland. In her youth she guest performed with Interlochen Arts Academy in the productions of Coppélia and Nutcracker. Hillary performed, choreographed and served as an executive board member for Grand Valley State University's Dance Troupe. She studied and performed dance (ballet, modern and jazz) internationally (France and Germany.) She's been teaching creative movement, pre-ballet and beginning ballet since 2012 at various locations: Leland, Maple City, Lake Leelanau and Traverse City.

  • Caitlin Watkins

    Caitlin Watkins is a lifelong dancer, Leland native, and a Dance Leelanau alumnus. She trained in ballet under Ms.Elisa and Ms. Suzy throughout middle school and high school. She continued her ballet education throughout her time at Kenyon College and additionally served as President of the Dancer's Co-op and Vice President of the Kenyon College Dance and Drama Club winning the Kenyon College Award for Outstanding Leadership for her work in the former. After college, Caitlin studied various forms of dance with Lou Conte Dance Studio and the Laboratory Dancers of Chicago. Caitlin taught an after school ballet program at Leland Public School prior to the pandemic. Caitlin is thrilled to be returning to teaching dance.

  • Jen Watkins

    Jen Watkins began her ballet training with Dance Leelanau while in high school. She continued her dance training in college with Farrell Ballet Theater in Kalamazoo and later at the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet School. She has performed a number of styles from classical ballet to country western to Tahitian dance. Jen danced as Bathilde in Farrell Ballet Theater's 2005 production of Giselle.
